Privacy Policy

Codictate is built around one principle: your voice data stays on your device. This policy explains what that means in practice.

Data collection

Codictate does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. There is no account system, no analytics, no telemetry, and no crash reporting.

Audio recordings are processed entirely on-device using local speech models. Recordings are held in temporary memory during transcription and discarded immediately after. They are never written to persistent storage and never leave your device.

What we do not collect

  • Audio recordings or voice data
  • Transcription output or text content
  • Usage patterns, session data, or analytics
  • Device identifiers or fingerprints
  • Location data
  • Contact information or address book data
  • Browsing or search history

Network usage

The only network request Codictate makes is to download speech model files on first launch. After the models are downloaded, the app functions entirely offline. No data is sent to any server during or after transcription.

Third-party services

Codictate does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The app contains no SDKs that collect or transmit user data.

Third-party speech models

Codictate uses the following open-source speech recognition models, both running locally on your device:

  • Whisper by OpenAI, released under the MIT License. Model weights are downloaded to your device and all inference runs locally.
  • Parakeet TDT v3 by NVIDIA, released under the CC-BY-4.0 License. Accessed via the FluidAudio framework. Model weights are downloaded to your device and all inference runs locally on the Neural Engine.

Neither model sends data to OpenAI, NVIDIA, or any other third party.

Data retention

There is no data retention because there is no data collection. Audio is discarded from memory immediately after transcription. Custom dictionary entries you create are stored locally on your device in the app's sandboxed storage and are never transmitted.

Children's privacy

Codictate does not collect data from anyone, including children. The app has no age-gated features and no data collection mechanisms regardless of the user's age.

Your rights

Because Codictate collects no personal data, there is no user data to access, correct, export, or delete. If you uninstall the app, all locally stored data (model files, dictionary entries, preferences) is removed with it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
