Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the Codictate application. By using Codictate, you agree to these terms.
The software
Codictate is free, open-source software released under the Apache License 2.0. You may use, copy, modify, and distribute the software in accordance with that license.
The iOS application is distributed via the Apple App Store and is additionally subject to Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA) unless superseded by these terms.
No account required
Codictate does not require you to create an account, provide personal information, or agree to data collection. There is no sign-up, no subscription, and no payment required to use the app.
On-device processing
All speech recognition is performed locally on your device. Audio data is not transmitted to any server. Codictate does not process, store, or have access to your voice recordings or transcription output.
Disclaimer of warranties
Codictate is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. This includes, but is not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
Speech recognition accuracy depends on audio quality, language, background noise, pronunciation, and hardware capabilities. Codictate does not guarantee that transcriptions will be accurate, complete, or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the developers of Codictate be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:
- Your use or inability to use the software
- Inaccurate transcriptions or errors in speech recognition output
- Any action taken based on transcription output
- Unauthorized access to or alteration of locally stored data
- Any other matter relating to the software
Third-party components
Codictate incorporates the following third-party speech recognition models:
- Whisper by OpenAI - MIT License
- Parakeet TDT v3 by NVIDIA - CC-BY-4.0 License
These models run entirely on your device. Their use is subject to their respective licenses. Codictate is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by OpenAI or NVIDIA.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Codictate in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international law or regulation. You are solely responsible for the content you dictate and how you use the transcription output.
Termination
You may stop using Codictate at any time by uninstalling the application. Since no account or user data exists on any server, there is nothing to delete on our end. Uninstalling removes all local data including model files and preferences.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. The current version will always be available at this URL. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
